C4 Project

C4 Project

What is C4?

Community Child Care Centre (C4) was set up in 2014 to help working parents in the Chapagau district of Lalitpur. The centre provides child care places for up to 21 children aged one and two years old. The centre ensures that these children are well nourished and cared for throughout the working day and readies the children for a formal education at school.

Additionally, the center also provides an excellent after-school program where children can access help with homework as well as a safe place to play.

Not only does the centre do all this, it also provides a vital role in the local community by providing a centre for training on workers’ rights. This enables Home Net Nepal (NNN) to provide education and support within the community for home-based workers.

Success of the Project So Far

The C4 centre was opened by the Honerable Mr. Udaya Shemsher Rana in May 2014. The centre has since gone from strength to strength and has shown to have a great positive effect in the surrounding community; enabling workers to leave their children in a safe, secure and well managed environment. The success of the C4 project has shown highlighted the need for more of these centres across the valley and beyond. HNN hopes that this initial C4 centre in Lalitpur can be starting point for a nation-wide initiative.

What HNN wants

HNN would like to open further C4 centres across Kathmandu and Lalitpur to provide this same excellent service to more children and working people.

The cost of setting up a C4 centre is estimated at RS 200,000. Through raising this money HNN would be able to continue and spread the excellent services that C4 can provide.
